Hello, stranger. My name is Julija, pronounced the Slavic way. Some call me simply Ju. Most of the time I feel ancient, but I’m actually in my mid-twenties, currently living the confusing post-grad life and striving to write for a living. True to the stereotype, I am always caffeinated. And a procrastinator for life.
When it comes to books, I tend to gravitate towards fantasy worlds with occasional dips into contemporary and historical romance, although I do not like to limit myself to particular genres. More than anything, I love a good story with unforgettable characters. Particularly the characters and their development are what I pay a lot of attention to, and as such, what I tend to discuss most in my reviews.
Aside from reading I enjoy cooking to country music, cuddling with my mighty Chihuahua, binge-watching things on Netflix while working on cosplay, and playing video games (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed franchises in particular).
Personally, I see myself as a dragon queen sitting on a mountain of books and making all sorts of plans. Mostly about different ways to dominate the world. I am, without a doubt, an INTJ. (And Artemis Fowl may or may not have been both a childhood crush and an inspiration.)
The purpose of Books Over Coffee is to help people discover amazing books, connect with other readers, discuss all things reading and writing, and provide helpful tips on blogging, web design and book photography.
Some of my favourite fantasy series: Fever by Karen Marie Moning, Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews, Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs, Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Some of my favourite romances: FBI/US Attorney books by Julie James, All For The Game trilogy by Nora Sakavic, The Liar by Nora Roberts, Captive Prince trilogy by C. S. Pacat
TV shows I adore: Bones, White Collar, (first three seasons of) Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, The 100, Criminal Minds
Things I look for in books: interesting characters, internal conflicts, no love triangles, no melodrama, all kinds of bonds and found families, friendships (particularly between females), fae lore, dragons, epicness
